Non-Ferrous Metals
Lead is at the heart of HVR's business, produced at its own plant. Aluminium, copper and brass complete a non-ferrous range backed by the same procurement, supply-chain and delivery capability.
Pure Lead
Recovered lead is refined in HVR's kettles to remove impurities and cast into pure lead ingots at the company's pure lead plant. Pure lead is soft, dense and highly resistant to corrosion, which makes it the base metal for lead oxides and lead alloys. It is the main raw material for lead-acid battery production, and is also used for cable sheathing, rolled and extruded products, and radiation shielding.

Antimonial Lead Alloys
Refined lead is alloyed to the required composition in HVR's alloying kettles and cast into ingots. The range includes antimonial, selenium and calcium lead alloys, and master metal. Alloying changes the hardness, strength and casting behaviour of lead. Antimonial alloys are widely used for battery grids and parts, calcium alloys suit maintenance-free battery designs, and selenium acts as a grain refiner in low-antimony grid alloys. Master alloys are used to add alloying elements accurately during alloy making.

Lead Chemicals & Oxides
HVR converts its own refined lead into lead oxides at its oxide plant, giving customers a single source from metal to oxide — alongside a range of lead-based chemicals, including PVC stabilisers.
Grey Oxide
Grey oxide is produced at HVR's oxide plant from refined lead. Battery makers mix it into the paste that forms the active material of their plates. Also known as leady oxide or battery oxide, it is a mixture of lead monoxide and fine metallic lead particles. Its oxidation level and particle characteristics influence paste consistency and plate performance, which is why battery makers specify them closely.

Red Lead
Red lead is produced at HVR's oxide plant by further oxidising lead oxide. Red lead (lead tetroxide, Pb₃O₄) is a bright orange-red powder. In batteries it is added to the positive active material, particularly in tubular plates, to aid plate formation. It is also used in protective coatings, glass, ceramics and chemicals.

Litharge
Litharge — also called yellow lead oxide — is produced at HVR's oxide plant. Litharge is lead monoxide (PbO) in its yellow-orange form. It is used in making PVC stabilisers and other lead compounds, in glass and ceramic glazes, in pigments and chemicals, and in some battery applications.

Lead Stearate
Lead stearate is the lead salt of stearic acid — a white powder that works as both a lubricant and a co-stabiliser in PVC processing, particularly in plasticised compounds such as cable covering. It is normally used together with other stabilisers. It is also used as a drier in oil-based paints and varnishes, and in greases and lubricants.
- Form
- Powder
- Applications
- PVC lubricant & co-stabiliser · Cable compounds · Paint & varnish driers · Greases & lubricants

TBLS
TBLS (tribasic lead sulphate, 3PbO·PbSO₄·H₂O) is a white, free-flowing powder used as a heat stabiliser in PVC processing. It provides long-term heat stability and good electrical insulation properties, which is why it is widely used in rigid PVC and in cable compounds. It has little lubricating effect of its own, so it is normally used together with a lubricant such as a metallic stearate.
- Form
- Powder
- Applications
- PVC pipes & fittings · PVC profiles & sheets · Cable insulation & sheathing · Injection-moulded PVC

Energy Solutions
HVR supplies batteries, cells and power-backup systems through its integrated supply chain, so customers can source energy products from the same partner that supplies their lead materials.
Lead-Acid Batteries
HVR supplies lead-acid batteries through its integrated supply chain — a natural extension of its long relationship with the battery industry. Lead-acid batteries are the most widely used rechargeable batteries for vehicle starting, inverter and UPS backup, and telecom power. They are robust, cost-effective and highly recyclable — the lead in a spent battery can be recovered and refined for new batteries.

Scrap & Recyclables
Scrap is the starting point of HVR's lead manufacturing and a core part of its trading business. HVR buys and supplies non-ferrous scrap through domestic networks, international trade, tenders and auctions.
Lead Scrap
Lead scrap is a primary input to HVR's own refining and is also traded through HVR's network. Lead scrap includes pipes, sheets, cable sheathing, weights and other lead-bearing material. Because lead can be recycled repeatedly without losing its properties, scrap is a valuable input for secondary lead refining.
- Applications
- Secondary lead refining · Re-melting

Battery Scrap
Spent lead-acid batteries are the first input to HVR's process: they are received in the scrap yard, cut, and separated into lead and plastic. Spent lead-acid batteries are the largest source of recycled lead. Their lead components are smelted and refined back into metal, and the polypropylene cases are recovered as plastic — making the lead-acid battery one of the most recycled products in use.
- Applications
- Lead recovery · Plastic recovery

Copper Scrap
HVR buys and supplies copper scrap through domestic networks, imports, tenders and auctions. Copper scrap ranges from bare wire and cable to tubes, sheet and turnings. Copper can be recycled repeatedly without losing its properties, so clean, well-sorted scrap is valued for refining, re-melting and alloy making.
- Applications
- Refining · Re-melting · Alloy making

Aluminium Scrap
HVR buys and supplies aluminium scrap through domestic networks, imports, tenders and auctions. Aluminium scrap includes extrusions, sheet, castings, cans and turnings. Recycling aluminium uses only a fraction of the energy needed to produce primary metal, which makes scrap an important raw material for secondary aluminium producers and foundries.
- Applications
- Secondary aluminium · Re-melting · Foundry

Brass Scrap
HVR buys and supplies brass scrap through its procurement network. Brass scrap includes fittings, valves, turnings and mixed brass components. Sorted by alloy type, it is re-melted by brass mills and foundries into new products.
